For tournament directors using the USPPA tournament program
Download the database update: newdata.exe. Run
this program on the computer where the usppa tournament program will be run, and
it will update your player database. If your internet service won't let you
download the update program, you can download the zip file instead, and extract
it using a program like Winzip. Winzip is available here:
If Winzip isn't available to you, and you don't have the pkunzip utility, you can use a free
utility called unzip.
Unzip is located in your c:\ppa folder. It is invoked by the getdata command,
located in the same folder. See the instructions under Option 2 below.
To download files, right-click the link, click Save Target As..., and specify
c:\ppa as the destination folder.
Option 1:
For Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, and XP users:
Download
newdata.zip
Open the downloaded file, and click Extract.
Make sure Use folder names is checked.
Make sure the Extract to: folder is c:\ppa.
Click Extract.
Close Winzip.
Option 2:
For Windows 3 and DOS users, or anyone who doesn't use Winzip:
Right-click newdata.zip
and choose Save Target As...
In the Save As dialog that appears, navigate to the c:\ppa folder.
Open a Command prompt (or DOS window).
Type the following commands at the DOS prompt: cd \ppa
getdata If you are unzipping newdata from the floppy drive
(a:), use this command: unzip -oC a:newdata If newdata.zip is
on another drive, substitute that drive letter in place of a: in the above
example.
Option 3:
If you
have pkunzip installed, you can use it instead of unzip. Type:
cd\ppa
pkunzip -d newdata
or, if newdata is on a floppy,
pkunzip -d a:newdata
